Customer Review: Military time?
Summary: 4 Stars

I can't figure out to to change the time to military time anyone have an idea?

Customer Review: Don't buy this in the winter
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought the watch in November, the battery was fully charged. That lasted a week. Sitting it in a window for a day only charged it for a few hours. I left it in a window for 2 days and only got 6 hours. So it's looking to me like I have to wear it a week and charge it a week, which is pretty useless. Casio says that it's not their problem.

Customer Review: DO NOT BUY!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this watch 4 years ago. It is an atomic solar watch that is supposed to NEVER RUN OUT OF POWER. About 6 months ago the watch began to only charge to medium power and then would completely die after about 8 hours! Casio uses a cheap solar cell for these watches and will not admit to this problem or just replace the watch. Casio will make you either pay $90 for service fee to replace the solar cell or you just have to buy a new watch. This is false advertising and this watch is not worth the money. I suggest you buy a better watch with a battery. When the battery runs out after a few years it will only cost you about $10 to replace a battery. Casio should be ashamed of themselves, I have worn a G-shock of one type or another for almost 20 years, but this is blatantly false advertising and I will NEVER own another Casio product. Citizen makes a fine watch.

Customer Review: A Carefree Watch
Summary: 5 Stars

I liked the concept of a solar-power charged battery that I never have to replace combined with an atomic watch that I never have to set, so I bought the watch. So far, so good on both fronts--although I really won't know for some time how the solar feature and the battery hold up over time. The head of the watch is a bit bulky compared to that of a normal digital watch, but it's not unwieldy. The only feature I found wanting (and maybe I just couldn't find it in poring over the instruction manual) was a countdown timer--lots of timers and stopwatches, but nothing that counts down instead of up and ends with a beep. Oh, ah--still a fine product...especially for those who never want to worry about setting the time or replacing a batter.

Customer Review: Great watch, poor company
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this watch for about 4 years now (GW-500A) and I thought i would post a review and address some of the complaints and questions I read in other reviews. Firstly, in the four years I have owned it, I have NEVER had the battery indicator drop below half, even during winter months. I do get outside in the winter and room light WILL recharge the battery, so if it gets low, just put it under a bright light and leave it there for a few hours. Second, what does the dial on the left do? It's kind of a throwback to an analogue watch face in that it shows the minute progression throughout the hour. Last, the auto time set. I live in the midwest (Cincinnati) and have never had an issue with the atomic signal. I had to experiment to find the best time and place for the auto set to work; normally the watch will try to auto sync overnight and I find if it doesn't auto sync, I can put it in one particular location and manually sync it in the morning. I really don't know about the chronograph complaints; My reasons for purchasing the watch were two fold: I wanted a watch that would always be set to the correct time and also would not need a battery change every year if I wanted to use the alarm (most watches consume maximum power sounding the alarm). This watch has performed FLAWLESSLY for the four years I have owned it and it is worn everyday. I am not particularly gentle with it and it has had a few hard knocks but continues to perform like the day I got it. If your needs are the same as mine, I don't think you can find a better watch. Oh, and about the looks. No it's not the prettiest or slimmest watch out there, but it does what it's supposed to. As an electronics tech, that's an attribute I appreciate.
UPDATE 3/4/09 I stupidly left my watch in the sun and damaged it. returned in Jan 2009 for service. Received back from service and immediately a button fell off. Shortly after that, a second button fell off. Returned the watch to Casio service again; was told the repair cost would be ANOTHER $45, above and beyond the original $45 I paid for repairs. Casio, if this is your idea of customer service, perhaps you should relearn the definition. Accordingly, my review has gone from 5 stars to 2.
